Joris Baars is a PhD candidate within the ReLiB project based at the School of Engineering at Newcastle University. His research aims to build a model of the natural resource implications and associated environmental emissions of the electro-mobility transition to quantify the benefits of different battery recycling technologies.
Joris’s broader research interest is in quantifying the environmental and economic implications of sustainable resource management strategies. He is interested in combining engineering-based tools such as Lifecycle Assessment and Material Flow Analysis with economics to inform decision makers on the implications of circular economy and resource efficient strategies.
